Summertime, and the living is easy. There’s so much to love about summer, the beautiful weather, the sunshine, the slower pace…
EVERYTHING ABOUT SUMMER GIVES US THE EXCUSE TO SPEND MORE TIME WITH OUR PUPS!
So, we decided to make things interesting, and give you some new ideas for fun activities to do this summer with your dog.
VISIT A DOG FRIENDLY RESTAURANT
What is better than sitting on a nice patio, enjoying company, and having a good meal? Bringing your dog, of course. Not sure where to find a dog friendly restaurant? Check out BringFido, a website dedicated to dog friendly restaurants. Make sure your pup eats at home first, though!
HAVE A “DOGGY DATE”
Go do something special just with your dog! Slow things down a bit, and enjoy some quality time with your favorite pup.
BRING YOUR DOG TO WORK DAY
How fitting is it that June 23rd, the third official day of summer, is Bring Your Dog to Work Day? It promises to be the least productive office day of the year. Just be sure that your boss is okay with it first!
TEACH THEM A NEW TRICK
Longer summer days means you have more time for self improvement. Or, in this case, dog self improvement. Teach your doggo a new trick! Here’s a fun list to help you get started. If you really want to be inspired, here’s some fun tricks by our friends, The Super Collies.
WATER SPORTS
Keep it cool with your pup this summer. Even having a sprinkler system with your kids and dog in the backyard screams for hours of non-stop fun.
TRY A NEW FRESH ‘DO
Help your pup cool off with a new haircut! However, be careful if your pup has a double-coat, certain breeds need special attention when receiving haircuts. Always ask or research about breed-specific practices before going to get their hair done!
DOGA: YOGA WITH DOGS
Don’t hate it until you try it. Yoga with goats is a thing, why not doga?
MAKE NEW FRIENDS
Meet up with fellow dog owners, and go to the dog park or play in your backyard! Doggy play dates can be great, let them burn off some energy with another pup. Always socialize your pup safely, though! Read our recent blog post on pet socialization for tips.
ROAD TRIP TO VISIT THE FAMILY
Take your pup with you to go spend some quality time with your family. Your parents will probably want to see their favorite “grand-pup”, and you get to bond with your pup over road-trip tunes. Read our recent blog post on how to safely travel with your dog.
CAMPING WITH DOGS, ANYONE?
Camping with Dogs: Lifestyle movement, Instagram account, or just a lot of fun? Opting outside during the summer is the perfect time to explore the great outdoors with your pup.
Regardless of what you decide to do this summer with your dog, we hope you get to spend special time together.
