If you thought cats spend the majority of their time sleeping, you’re right. These professional nappers spend 16-20 hours a day catching up on z’s, which means over 70% of their life is spent sleeping.

According to Guinness World Records, the richest cat in the world, Blackie, inherited $12.5 million from his owner after he passed away.
5. The first and only cat went to space in 1963 🚀
You’ve probably heard of monkeys and dogs in space, but did you know a cat braved the adventure, too? On October 18, 1963, Felicette, also known as ‘Astrocat,’ became the first-ever cat to go to space.
6. The oldest cat to live was 38 years old!
Creme Puff, born August 3,1967, lived until August 6, 2005—an amazing 38 years and 3 days! Owner, Jake Perry, sure was doing something right!
7. The loudest purr measured in at 67.8db(A)
Merlin is the proud record holder of the loudest purr. At 67.8db(A), Merlin’s purr was nearly the same volume as a vacuum cleaner!

A study discovered that the feline with the highest percentage of shared DNA with the domestic cat is the tiger (95.6%). They share a lot of the same behaviors such as pouncing, prey stalking, and scent marking.
10. The world’s longest jump by a cat is 7ft!
Waffle the Warrior is no stranger to big leaps. He achieved the longest cat jump(213.36cm) ever in Big Sur, CA on January 30, 2018. That’s about the same height as professional NBA player, Shaq!
